Popped down to the Bristol Media Brand You Awards last night, where I was nominated for an award in the Social Media category.
Happy to say, I came second, out of three, so was ‘Highly Commended’.
One interesting thing happened at the end though. A chap came up to me to say well done, and asked what I’d done to win the prize I did. I told him, and he asked how he could find out what the other entrants had done to win their prizes.
I said I honestly had no idea, and he remarked that surely having openness around what different nominees had done was an important part of knowing that an awards process was fair and accurate.
I think he had a point, so it would be interesting to see if Bristol Media would be up for publishing the different nominations that were submitted by or about each entrant. I didn’t see any confidentiality clauses on the paperwork I submitted, so I’d imagine it should be ok to just publish them as is.
